New World Free Dive Record Set
Martin Stepanek has dived more than 100 meters below the sea - without an air tank
"I'm officially the deepest man in the world," Stepanek said. "That's the record. It's like 35 stories."Free diving can be incredibly dangerous - during a free dive lungs shrink and the body is starved of oxygen - in 2002 a French diver died when 300 feet under water.
Meanwhile the free diver community will continue to refine the techniques until the bottom limit is reached - wherever that is.
Does anyone out there know what the bottom limit is? There must be basic physical limitations that govern this kind of thing - or will free divers just keep diving deeper and deeper?
